Hunter Boot Ltd was born. In no time at all Mr Norris was employing 600 members of staff to manufacture the ever and increasingly popular innovative Hunter Wellington Boot.
Hunter’s Wellington boots had only one problem…keeping up with demand. Everybody wanted to wear and go about their Wellington needed activities sporting a pair of Hunter Wellingtons. With this in mind it was all systems go to produce as many pairs of Hunter Wellington boots as physically possible. The majority of the manufacture of Hunter Wellingtons are hand made – hand made products in the 18 hundreds were more common place than in today’s robot driven manufacturing industry…however, Hunter’s Wellington Boots are still largely constructed by hand – so each footwear piece has it’s own individuality to keep the historic and traditional values of Hunter boot Ltd alive.With the Mills running at 100% productivity, day and night hundreds of pairs of Hunter Wellingtons were made – much to the delight of those who demanded the Wellingtons and the local community who were boosted financially.
This demand continued throughout the First World War with hunter’s Boots Ltd creating a sturdy boot suitable for the battlefields and trenches to assist soldiers in their activities. With a huge arm base, over one million pairs of Hunter Wellingtons were manufactured. Once WWI had ended and production slowed to a more normal pace WWII soon began and demand and production shot up exponentially. Hunter Wellies have evolved over years aesthetically to cater for changing consumer tastes and habits – Hunter traditional green ‘farmer’ Wellies is still one of the most popular Wellington boot on today’s market.Now a great range of bright and bold colours are available for you to slip your feet into as you take footsteps across that muddy field. Made to the same rigorous standards and part hand crafted it is easy to see why Hunters Wellingtons go from strength to strength.
